P003 → Project No. 3
Serenity Place is a community center project located in Oakland, California. I completed this project in fall quarter of 2020. It is centered around providing transitional housing for victims of domestic abuse, specifically women and children. Each family unit is given an apartment with shared kitchen, common spaces, and laundry. Serenity Place is meant to provide a safe space and resources for these victims to be able to succeed in life without their abusers. The building itself is centered around the courtyard, where a feeling of protection allows residents to relax and successfully go complete the transitioning program.
